He Got My Attention
Could someone please tell me how this guy has been kept hidden from my music library for the last 10 years? I was introduced to Rob Baird's music through a large file that come through with various artists as submissions to HGB Canada. All the artists were awesome, but one jumped out at me and slapped my in the face with a musical note and a can of hurt me baby lyrics. His name? Rob Baird!
Rob has a collection of albums out in which I am streaming every last one while I write this. There is something so authentic and and rich in his voice. He brings me to my listening roots in Canada yet he is settled in Nashville. Sometimes when I am listening to my own station in the car, and his song comes on the radio, I perk up immediately, almost panicking to see who it is I'm listening to because he's already reached me of the first note of the song.
He goes from mellow, almost country, almost alternative rock... to kicking it hard core with Pocket Change on his album " Wrong Side of the River". He's nobody's pocket change. Hard hitting lyrics and a driving beat, well cool me down now! This is what music is meant to be.
What song caught my ear? Burning Blue immediately sweeps me off my feet and transports me to a place I'm willing to go. Burning Blue can be found on his album released in January 2019 " After All" . This has to be Rob's crown jewel with kiss my ass lyrics and a range of bluesy tones and well you just have to listen! If your in a hurtin' relationship situation, here's the healing power to your freedom. A good dose of Rob Baird and his lyrical magic and melodic paths will soothe that soul and feed that little bit of relationship sarcasm needed to brush the dust off your feet.
Its time to fall in love again, fall in love with the haunting melodic stories of Zachary Lucky. The album is full of rich and cultural signposts of the Canadian wanderer. The opening track " Lost My Way Now and Then" pulls you through an achingness of emotional exhaustion from travel on the road, ups and downs and leaves you feeling that you have met your own ghost from times past. Lucky has a way of speaking to the Canadian from coast to coast who has traveled and lived all across this land.
Lyrically busting with a common emotion of loss and gain at the same time draped in a ghostly melodic tone only found in the voice of Canada, singing to the heart of past and future in today. This album will have you time traveling with Lucky throughout the Canadian highway of souls that have come before and that will continue to reach from sea to sea to sea. If your looking for a solid cross over of Country to Folk and back to Country again, then this album should be on your to buy list. Once you hear it, you will want to get up and personal in a Zachary Lucky Show.
